Abstract: This is a 7-day Language Arts unit plan written for an audience of 7th-grade students. Students will read “I Promised I Would Tell” by Sonia Schreiber Weitz to gain an understanding about how personal experiences can create powerful messages. Once students have finished reading “I Promised I Would Tell” they will create a personal memoir using iMovie or Photostory. In addition to the writing of memoirs and reading about the Holocaust, this unit covers concepts of poetry, audience, author purpose, figurative language, and social issues.
